Stung Treng Province : Ancient area

Most of the temples in Stung Treng province were built during the 6th-7th centuries, but the condition of the buildings is very bad, some only leaving traces of the temple construction, except for Preah Ko Temple, which still exists, although many parts are broken. It should be noted that Preah Ko Temple is considered a place of worship and belief by the Khmer people, especially the local residents. This temple is the starting point of the noble philosophy of King Indravarman I, the king of the Khmer Empire, who took the model for leading the country. It was built at the end of the 6th century, with a statue of a cow in front of the temple and originally called Paramesura or Parameswara. It is located in Thala Parivat commune, Thala Parivat district, Stung Treng province.
