Site Visit to Kampong Khleang Village lead by Oknha Chhay Sivlin and Miss Planet International contestants
On the morning of March 10, 2026, a welcoming ceremony and visit for the candidates of Miss Planet International from 35 countries was organized at Kompong Khleang community, located in Sot Nikum District, Siem Reap Province. The visit aimed to introduce the contestants to the local culture, community lifestyle, and tourism potential of the Tonle Sap Lake area. The event was led by H.E. Ngov Sengkak, Vice Governor of Siem Reap Province; Oknha Chhay Sivlin, President of the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA); Mr. Kim Vannak, Governor of Sot Nikum District; Mr. Thim Sereyvuth, Director of the Siem Reap Provincial Department of Tourism; and Mr. Khin Sokunviseth, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Environment. The ceremony was also attended by students, teachers, local community members of Kompong Khleang village, and the Miss Planet International delegation.
During the visit, a palm tree planting ceremony was organized to create a meaningful memory of the occasion. The palm tree is a national symbol of Cambodia and represents an important part of Khmer culture and traditional livelihood. Planting palm trees together also reflects a shared commitment to environmental protection, sustainable tourism development, and raising awareness of natural resources. The visit also provided an opportunity for the Miss Planet International candidates to learn more about community-based tourism, floating village life, and the cultural heritage of people living around the Tonle Sap Lake. Beyond creating memorable experiences for the delegates, the event also highlighted Cambodia as a safe and welcoming tourism destination with rich cultural heritage and strong potential for sustainable tourism development.
