Trial meeting to exempt visas for Chinese tourists in 2026.
Oknha Sreat M. Sophear, Vice President of the CATA and Co-Vice Chair of “Group K – Tourism Sector,” participated in the working meeting of “Group K – Tourism Sector” under the Government-Private Sector Forum, led by H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and the co-chair representing the government. The meeting was presided over by Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Private Sector Coordination Committee. The meeting also included representatives from ministries, government institutions, and private sector members of Group K, as well as other stakeholders. Its objective was to review and promote the pilot visa exemption for Chinese tourists in 2026 and discuss related issues.
According to the high-level consensus of H.E. Prime Minister Hun Manet, the pilot visa exemption for Chinese tourists includes two key points:
-
A 14-day visa exemption for Chinese nationals traveling from China during a four-month period from 15 June to 15 October 2026, with no application or fees required, only completion of the E-arrival card. During the pilot, Chinese visitors may enter Cambodia multiple times.
-
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is authorized to negotiate and coordinate with Chinese authorities to simplify visa procedures for Cambodian citizens traveling to China for future full visa exemption implementation.
This outcome reflects the active participation of the Cambodia Tourism Association (CATA) through Group K – Tourism Sector under the Government-Private Sector Forum.
